PSP MapThis! v0.5 demo: 3D Mode

Good news for the travel-savvy PSP owners, in case you're waiting for word on Deniska's latest MapThis! version. The coder is letting the guys know that the GPS navigation application's version 0.5 has recently been going through internal testing, and is almost ready for release.

And like the "voice prompt" video from before, Deniska updated today with a new teaser video to let the guys know about another feature that's been added - 3D Mode.

As for Deniska's notes on the video via DCEmu:
I used the arkon mount that attaches to a vent (came bundled with gpslim 236)
It does not work well with psp-290, but...
The holux receiver is behind the odometer panel - you can see the cable going to it...
Stick around in case we hear more from Deniska, or this much-awaited MapThis update.

Don't use generic battery chargers, PSP gets angry

For the love of your PSP, ladies and gentlemen, do not lose your PSP charger cable that Sony gave to you. Even worse, don't replace it with some generic Radio Shack battery charger cable. Your PSP will go Hulk on your ass and explode. Seriously. Bob Nixon, a Florida PSP enthusiast, related to his PSP battery exploding: "It had been charging for over an hour when it just went off." He lost his official charger during a trip and was using a generic Radio Shack charger. A shame.

Sony: Full PSP Power Hindered by Wi-Fi

An original report on Beyond3D has revealed that the PlayStation Portable's newly unlocked 333Mhz processor speed, which is being utilized in the upcoming God of War: Chains of Olympus, actually comes with some restrictions.

Although PSP firmware version 3.50 introduced a new clock control function, Beyond3D discovered that the portable's full clock speed is only available with Wi-Fi disabled, meaning that during network play the CPU clock is limited to 222MHz.

GameDaily BIZ checked in with Sony Computer Entertainment America, and Dave Karraker, Sr. Director, Corporate Communications did indeed confirm the report.

Sony offering refunds to PlayStation Network users

Sony has said it will refund consumers who bought PSone titles Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer and MediEvil from the PlayStation Store.

In emails sent directly to customers, Sony said consumers would have their purchase refunded to the PlayStation Store wallet in the next seven days, after which Spyro 2 and MediEvil would be removed from their PS Store download list.

"You will be aware from the description of the product on PlayStation Store that some variation in functionality from the original PSone version is to be anticipated," the publisher wrote.

"However there appear to be more significant technical issues."

Sony withdrew the games, along with Crash Bandicoot 2, following the discovery of technical issues.
