(Another) Fake Chinese PSP

This one seems to be a little bit more blatant than some of the other fake PSPs that I've seen images of floating around the net. The phrase the bottom is pretty funny: "THE GAME KINGDON IS ONLY I AM ONLY." The images appear to be pages out of a magazine. Check them out via the links below.

Sony CES keynote reveals PSP importance

Did you know that Sony launched a new system in 2006? Yeah, I know. Crazy. Sony's hyping up the PLAYSTATION 3 machine, but it's nice to know that the PSP will not be ignored in 2007. In fact, the PSP continues to be an integral part of Sony's plan for world domination. Peter Dille teased PSP fans with the following tidbits:
  • PSP has sold over 20 million units worldwide. This ain't no Game Gear, folks.
  • Remote Play hype: "So if you want to access Spider-Man the Movie in Milan from your PS3 in Milwauke... it's possible."
  • Expanded "online community" for PSP (pictured).
  • Portable gaming is increasingly important to the consumer: Sony obviously wants a large cut of the market.
Feel free to read Engadget's continuing coverage of CES, or check out GameSpot's archival video of Dille's keynote.

Clifford Scout 420: a step away from the PSP?

We've seen quite a lot of PSP mods in our days, but for this one, we're quite not sure if you can call it as a mod per se. See it's a media player, and it's also a GPS navigator, but there's one very essential thing missing for it to even come close to being in competition with our beloved PSPs - games.

Fellas, behold the Clifford Scout 420 GPS Navi and Media Player. Made by Directed Electronics, maker of tons of commonly known electronics names, this nifty handheld is all prepped to be launched at the upcoming CES 2007 to be held in Las Vegas. Critics have been commenting on how the Clifford Scout 420 looks an awful lot like a very familiar "gadget" close to our hearts. Now now, we know this can never come close to your PSPs but with the PSP slowly moving toward its GPS capabilities, you also have to wonder: what if this Clifford Scout 420 also makes the move to having games?

Waterproof gameSEAL cases keep your portable consoles dry

If there's one combination that we can all agree is great, it's two hydrogen molecules getting down with one oxygen molecule. H2O-yeah. One combination we're not so down with: H2O and electronics. The war between the two factions is ancient and storied, full of broken dreams (and motherboards). To help prevent such senseless violence, Atlantic is dipping their waterproof toes back into the consumer electronics pool with two new entries to their GameKeeper line: waterproof gameSEAL cases for both the Nintendo DS (Phat and Lite varieties) and the PSP, available now for $39.99. The PSP model can hold the console, 10 UMDs, two Memory Stick Duos, and charger; the DS model holds the console, 12 DS carts, 16 GBA carts, plus charger. GameSEAL, get it? It seals, like a case, but it's waterproof, like a seal. Clever.

Memory Stick Duo 8GB model available next month

Cliche it may be, but great things do come in small packages. At the on-going Consumers Electronic Show in Vegas, Sony just announced its latest memory stick product - the 8GB Memory Stick PRO Duo. Yep, you read that right. Eight giga-whew-bytes. More room for 'brew, emulators, music, etc.

8GBAside from coming in with an adapter for devices with a standard-size memory stick media slot, it is also armed with MagicGate copy protection technology. Well, to keep this simpler, here are the specs of the said memory stick:
  • 8GB MSX-M8GS Memory Stick model
  • Weighing in at just two grams
  • 0.79-inches wide and 1.22-inches long
  • Sporting the ten-pin Serial Memory Stick interface
  • 1,500 images in 10-megapixel, fine mode
  • More than 18 hours of video at 768Kb per seconds in MPEG4 compression
  • Can hold a collection about 2,000 songs in the MP3 format at 128 kbps with an average of four minutes per song
8GB Memory Stick PRO Duo will become available beginning February for US$ 300. It can be purchased from Sony Style (both online and retail stores) as well as authorized dealers in all states. Well, like we said, good things come in small packages, only they also usually come with a heavy price.
