More Pink PSP Pictures

From PSPUpdates:

Now, a lot of you guys reacted to the earlier article about how only real men play with pink PSPs. In fact, your comments even carried over to discussing homosexuality and how pink stuff (including handheld consoles) are meant for women. Whatever. Bottom line is, you guys are entitled to your own opinions.

However, for those who are actually interested in getting one for themselves OR for their girlfriends, we bring you more pictures  of the pink PSP, which is said to be scheduled for release in Europe by the 27th of October.

A lot of people are saying that the shade of pink is hideous, and that it makes the PSP look plastic and cheap. Personally, I think the pink PSP would've looked a lot better if the buttons were black. It seems that there's just too much pink phenomenon going on in the console and black buttons would've made it easier on the eyes. But that's just me. What do you guys think?

Rainbow Six Vegas Targets PSP

Ubisoft announced today that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas will fight on the PlayStation Portable, alongside previously announced versions for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Rather than duplicate its console counterparts, the PSP version of the tactical FPS will follow a parallel story, offering both single-player and multiplayer action.

In the portable Vegas, players will switch between field operative Brian Armstrong and sniping expert Shawn Rivers. Both operatives are supporting fellow Rainbow members Keller, Park and Walter -- the stars of the console version -- in saving Las Vegas from terrorist destruction.

To support players in their counter-terrorist action, Rainbow Six Vegas offers PSP-specific controls, high-tech equipment (such as snake cams for "tagging" terrorists prior to entering a room), and a third-person view when taking cover. Building stats will unlock bonus content, including Terrorist Hunt Mode, where players begin from different points on single-player maps and hunt terrorists one at a time.

In addition to single-player action, Rainbow Six Vegas for the PSP will support multiplayer fights via wireless or Internet connections. Players can compete in Survival and Team Survival modes on six "classic" Rainbow Six maps.

The PSP edition of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas is in development at Ubisoft's Quebec City studio, and is slated for release this holiday season.

Golden Joystick Awards break voting record

More gamers than ever before are having their say in this year's Golden Joystick Awards.

The Golden Joystick Awards are officially the world's oldest and most respected gaming awards show and have taken place since 1982, when Sony was famous for the Walkman and the Commodore 64 was a mere infant. This year, the awards are announced at a glitzy award ceremony on Friday, 27th October at the Park Lane Hilton, London and for the first time, will be streamed live at www.computerandvideogames.com.

Smashing organisers' expectations, almost 400,000 votes have already been received across 17 award categories, almost doubling last year's total. With voting open until Friday, 12th October – there are still no clear winners, with potential receivers of the time-honoured Golden Joysticks changing on an hourly basis.

For the first time in living memory, a handheld game could potentially scoop "Ultimate Game of the Year" with New Super Mario Brothers leading the charge. Axe-fans are backing Red Octane's Guitar Heroes to win the "Innovation Award", whilst Halo 3 is out in front in the "One to Watch" category, beating both the Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3.

In the hotly-contested "Retailer of the Year" award, as five-way scrap has broken out, with Amazon.co.uk, Gameplay.com and Play.com battling it out with high street giants Game and GameStation, for gamers hearts, minds and wallets. In the "Publisher of the Year" category, EA Games, Rockstar and Ubisoft are currently neck and neck for the winning position, with both Nintendo and Microsoft Game Studios recording a massive surge in recent weeks.

John Houlihan, editor of computerandvideogames.com, says: "The record number of votes, especially in a difficult year between major console launches is great news for the Joysticks and the games industry as a whole. It just shows gamers are extremely passionate people and thousands are taking the opportunity to have their say and select the worthy winners of gaming's ultimate accolade, a Golden Joystick Award."
