TyRaNiD's PSPLink v2.0 Announced (Updated)

Update: Download TyRaNiD's PSPLink v2.0 HERE

From PSPUpdates:

TyRaNiD announced the release of TyRaNiD's PSPLink 2.0. We added his name to this homebrew app so you don't get it confused with another app with the same name.TyRaNiD's PSPLink is an application that aids in the making of homebrew apps using C/C++. The features include an easy way to debug applications and update the eboots while the application is running.

The changes in TyRaNiD's PSPLink 2.0:

  • Few disasm bugs fixed
  • Added a sysstat command to print things like number of clock cycles spent in the idle thread
  • Added a psplink.ini option for a startup script, by specifying this a script will be run every time psplink is reset. Superceeds the the old modload command and allows you to do anything including patching up ram.
  • Added a uidinfo command to print some more info about a specific UID
  • Added a daemon mode to remotejoy
  • Added a few more instructions to the disasm
  • Added a specific hardware breakpoint command, before you had to know how the hardware debugger worked to set a hardware breakpoint

Now for the bad news: TyRaNiD says this is his last public release of this app. The good news is he says he might keep updating svn (but dont expect a binary release again).

Games Market Europe UK Event Cancelled For 2006

According to an official statement from the organizers, the Games Market Europe retail game trade event, organized by UK Develop Conference creator Tandem Events and PR firm Barrington Harvey, and due to take place in London next month, has been cancelled just weeks before its scheduled September 6th-7th dates.

A joint statement released to Gamasutra from the two organizers explains: "As industries evolve so do the events that serve them and nothing demonstrates this more than the recent changes to E3 in the US. Whilst the Games Market Europe event format has previously proved popular in the UK, a decision has been taken to postpone this year's GME until 2007."

It continues: "In doing so, it gives us the chance to review the timing and specific format to ensure we deliver a high quality event in 2007 that reflects the UK games industry’s needs."

The decision follows reportedly weak support from exhibitors, but does not apparently rule out a similar event next year under the same name, as the statement makes clear. The news follows the cancellation of the spring independent retail event NASCR in the UK, and the more recent 'evolution' of the international E3 event in Los Angeles.

Games Market Europe began in 2005, following the collapse of the traditional European Computer Trade Show (ECTS) event and the ELSPA-organized European Games Network (EGN) event. Games Market Europe was purposefully low cost with standardized stand sizes used primarily for networking between retailers and publishers.

The cancellation of Games Market Europe will leave the UK without any retail or consumer games event in 2006, a far cry from the excess of ECTS during the mid ‘90s – when it was by far the largest European games expo and comparable to both the Tokyo Game Show and E3.

ECTS was downsized considerably in the late ‘90s amidst complaints of overly expensive stands and a chaotic atmosphere unsuitable to detailed business discussions – similar logic to that expressed during the recent downsizing of E3.

Despite numerous attempts to create a replacement London event, including consumer show Game Stars Live, the premier European expo has now become the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany – the 2006 event of which is due to begin on August 23rd.

A $10-Second Chance For Gamers

The scenario is all too familiar. A new hot game is announced, all the hype is brought to the highest level until you burn insears anticipation, and then it finally gets released, tagged at a cost that your budget just can't afford. Unless you skip all your meals and save every penny you've got, that is.

Totally sucks, right?

Well, now you have that second chance! And starving doesn't even have to be an option. We recently posted in this website an article about Death Jr and how it only cost under $10! Yes, it is definitely for real! And who do we credit for this mecca of an opportunity? Why, the leader in retail stores, of course - Sears. From PS2 to PSP, Nintendo DS and Xbox, Sears is currently offering games at marked down prices. For as low as $9.97!

Unbelievable? Believe it. One Codeejonz actually went to Sears to pick up his copy of Death Jr after reading that QJ article. Guess what he found out: Death Jr did retail for the reported price - and so did other titles like Virtua Tennis, Untold Legends, and The Hustle. SSX on Tour even sold for $6.97. Codeejonz did warn that most of the titles aren't marked, but just ask Sears to do a price check and you just might get the games for the marked down price.
