New PSP Programming site for newbies!

Check it out here.

Scared of programming? Well, if you're interested, you have to start somewhere. And finding that right place to learn can be very difficult. You might have a bad experience with a book and lose your interest. How about I recommend you a site?

Yeldarb, who has also written programming articles before, has just made a site for homebrew developers. And trust me, it has everything you need to learn programming. The guides are for both Lua and C. So nobody will be left out. There's guides to get you started into the world of programming, plus the advanced ones to learn the real tricks of programming.

And there's also gonna be a source-code repository which you can use to check out others' code. You can even use it in your homebrew. Only after taking the necessary permissions though. Plus, there are also forums where you can discuss programming with other level-headed guys.

And the first few tutorials are written with complete newbies in mind. So even if you don't have any programming experience, you can start here. So what are you waiting for? Start developing!

Sony Hinting At New PSP Features or PSP 2?

This is something for the rumor mills. Apparently, PSP gamer birdman1 of invisionfree's forums, recently received an emailed survey from Playstation, and according to him after answering a few pages of the survey, there was a page largely devoted to what would make the PSP better (left thumbnail).

This sounds like the Sony people are wanting feedback about possible new features. But then again, maybe Sony isn't coming up with a PSP 2, but maybe they are just coming up with a firmware update. What do you think? Tell us through your replies.

The game allows players to relive the fantastic adventure of young Arthur and his two pals, princess Selenia and her brother Bétamèche, in their mission to save the Minimoys’ world from destruction. Set to time with The Weinstein Company theatrical release of the movie in North America, Arthur and the Minimoys game is currently in development by Lyon-and Paris-based Etranges Libellules, creator of several successful animated games, including Asterix XXL and Kirikou. The Nintendo DS game is being developed by Dreamon, and the Nintendo Game Boy Advance version by Mistic.

HOT PXL for PSP system is the ingenious and hip new title that brings fast and furious bite-size gaming to the masses. HOT PXL  comprises more than 200 deviously crafted mini-games based on a unique and original story premise that draws inspiration from street culture and the digital lifestyle – whether it’s blasting through an old-school style video game, busting tricks on a skateboard or a BMX, stage-diving at a concert, or just trying to cross a busy digital street.  The game’s web site, will serve as an integral part of the experience and the community. HOT PXL is being developed by zSlide.

Neverwinter Nights 2 is the sequel to the best-selling and genre-defining role-playing game (RPG) set in the popular Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms universe created by Wizards of the Coast.  The game’s story picks up years after a war waged between Luskan and Neverwinter.  The peace that was restored is at risk as tension mounts between the mighty city-states.  Unnoticed, a greater danger stalks the City of Skilled Hands. Unbeknownst to the denizens of the North, deep in the Mere of Dead Men, dark forces from across the Realms have been rallied under the banner of a legendary evil.  If left unchallenged, all of the North is doomed to fall under its power. Even in this darkest hour, hope remains.  A mysterious relic is borne to Neverwinter in the hands of a lone hero so that its secrets may be unlocked - secrets that carry the fate of all the North.  So begins an epic tale of shattered alliances, noble acts and dark deeds to be told across the Realms for generations to come.  Neverwinter Nights 2, developed by Obsidian Entertainment, will include a new and improved robust toolset that allows for the ultimate adventure creation and for the story of Neverwinter to continue.

PSPDictionary Web Based English to Japanese Translator

CaffeHobbit has released an interesting program. This app allows you to translate English words to Japanese through WiFi. Here's a rough translation of the readme:

"This is a English - Japanese dictionary. You need to switch on the WLan to use it.
Input half-width English letters as keywords to search on the internet, and then display the result.
When you want to quit, press X button then Home button.
Please edit the server.ini file according to your DNS server address settings."

So it takes some network knowledge, you'll have to find your DNS adress and configure it properly but the results could be worth it. If anyone can test this and let us know how it works, it would be greatly appriciated!

Check it out here.

Nyko Ships PSP to TV Viewing Device

The Nyko Play on TV Adapter, priced at $79.99, uses CCD (a.k.a. camera) technology to capture on-screen PSP images and transfer them to a television.

Nyko Technologies, a maker of peripherals for devices like the PSP and iPod, yesterday began shipping a PSP add-on which lets gamers view their UMD movies and games on their home television screen. The new Play on TV Adapter is priced at $79.99 and available now.

The Nyko Play on TV Adapter, said the company, snaps onto the Sony PSP and uses CCD sensor technology to view the image on the portable gaming device’s screen. It then sends what it sees to a television screen via included RCA cables. The unit also includes audio output directly from the PSP to the television so users can enjoy more of a stereo sound.

"Our fans told us they wanted to experience PSP games and UMD movies on their TV's, expanding the uses of their content." said Susan Corben, vice president of marketing, Nyko Technologies, in a statement. "One step ahead at Nyko, we anticipated this request and solved the problem by developing the Play on TV Adapter."

Note from Auri: Make sure the lens and any mirrors are clean when you use devices like these, otherwise the dust and scratches display on the TV, which is annoying! :-P

Neuros Defeats PSP Firmware V2.7 Glitch - New Features Coming Too!

A few days back it was reported that the MP4 file constructor was Refined for Sony's latest PSP Firmware - this halted the instant playback offered by the Neuros Mini MPEG 4 recorder on Sony's hand-held. Several tech websites blown the whole event out of proportion, with some even foolishly implying that it was the end of the line for the Neuros recorder. This was not and will never be the case, we have heard that Neuros have solved the problem and a new firmware for the Neuros recorder will be released. They have even thrown in new higher recording solutions for Ipods, Super Fine QVGA recording options and have gone as far as to add new resolutions for the red hot smartphones.

\

Here is a run down of some of the new features the new Neuros firmware will offer, REMEMBER this is software for the recorder only and not your PSP. To install it, all you have to do is load the file to your memory medium, insert it to the recorder and navigate the menu...

Upcoming Neuros Firmware Features

- New recording resolution: QCIF and QVGA @ 15 frames/s (for smartphones, most can not handle QVGA @ 30 fps).

- You now can record QVGA with a fine and superfine setting (it used to be limited to economy and normal because of the PSP limitations. PSP can not playback files encoded above 768kbps from a memory stick). That means iPod owners will be able to playback files recording at higher bit rates.

-A new file structure (work in progress) as Neuros want to make sure users are aware of the limitations of their own devices.

You can expect the new firmware to be available sometime next week from NeurosTechnology.com. In the meantime, the Neuros R2 has been receiving a hell of a lot of press attention as can be seen here. The latest review by What Hi Fi simply concludes ''This is a PSP must have''. GQ and Boys Toys recently concluded the product was a 'genius gadget' and 'brilliant' respectively.

When we at MaxConsole first heard about the Neuros Recorder 2 many months ago, we were wondering what on earth this device done. After we got to grips with it in our review we began to realize what all the fuss was about. This product allows you to record directly from your TV ANYTHING you want perfectly formatted onto a Pro Duo/CF ready for INSTANT playback on your PSP or Ipod. There is no conversion on your end, all you have to do is when your recording is done, take out your memory stick, plug it into your PSP and enjoy!
