The GameGal E3 2006 Hall of Shame

This feature is somewhat of a tradition at E3... check it out! -Auri

It's time to pay another visit to the ever-popular GameGal E3 Hall of Shame. Established way back in 2002, we've been chronicling the giddy excesses of the Electronic Entertainment Exposition for five years now.

Earlier in 2006, it was widely announced that the Booth Babe was an endangered species, and companies were put on notice that scantily clad spokesmodels were not welcome in the hallowed halls of the LA Convention Center. We, naturally, didn't believe it for a moment, and as our roving cameras found, the E3 Booth Babe is alive and well.

To be sure, this was the least Hall-of-Shame heavy year since we started attending the show back in 1999 (are we dating ourselves?), but there was still some room for eye candy for the teaming masses of XXL-shirt-wearing gamers who roam the floors of E3.

Finally, a word of warning to those who would think us humorless harpies: Our annual photo gallery isn't a swipe at anyone. We secretly love the Booth Babes, and E3 wouldn’t be the same without them. But if we can't laugh at ourselves, well, we’d probably be hardcore RTS fans. (We kid! We kid!)

Check it all out here.

Sony Computer Entertainment PSP Trailer Roundup

titles, including:

ATV Offroad Fury Pro: The followup to the previous ATV game, will now feature cross-compatibility with ATV Offroad 4 for the PS2, and Infrastructure Wi-Fi connectivity.

Gangs of London: Gangs has a weird look, a kind of a mix of pseudo-realism and cell-shading for the character models and environments.

LocoRoco: A very colorful 2-D platform game; the graphics are super stylized, but very engaging. A demo is available online for PSP users with firmware 2.7.

NBA 07: The series has kind of been floundering on the PSP, and the 2007 release hopes to turn that around. In lieu of an actual franchise mode, they’ve added a “conquest” mode, and some slight graphical improvements.

SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2: The updated version of last year’s highly rated tactical online FPS. The update will link to the upcoming SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault on the PS2 and offers new game modes, including Tug of War and Capture the Flag.

World Tour Soccer ‘06: The 2006 version of last year’s game, re-designed for the PSP. The new version supports four player multiplayer, twice the amount of last year’s version, but still no infrastructure mode.

Capcom Includes Bikini With PSP Game

Bikini not to be worn, warns company.

As if there already wasn't enough reason to pick up Capcom's latest PSP title, the company has announced the best promotional item since Tecmo tried to include a life-size inflatable Kasumi with a special edition of the Xbox. Capcom will be included an actual bikini in the limited edition of Finder Love, which hits the Japanese PSP on 6/29, just in time for the summer beach season. Since we're sure only a handful of you keep up with the cutthroat world of live action Japanese love sims (this week's newsletter is coming soon, boys!), here's what Finder Love is all about. Finder Love is a combination gravure disk and love sim focusing on three hot Japanese girls: Hara Fumina, Hoshino Aki and Risa Kudo. The game lets players interact with the three hotties and snap pictures which can be then be traded with friends.

Bueller?... Bueller?... Obvious Omissions at E3 '06

This year's E3 had a lot to take in such as the pricing for the PS3, the announcement of Halo 3 and footage of the New Mario and Metroid games for the Wii, but there were a lot of titles that were pretty highly anticipated that were a no show at this year's event. Some of the highly anticipated titles that were no-shows are below:

    * Killzone 2
    * Resident Evil 5
    * Devil May Cry 4
    * Half-Life 2: Episode One
    * Gran Turismo 4 Mobile
    * Dragon Age
    * Culdcept Saga
    * Starcraft: Ghost
    * Bully
    * Fallout 3
    * Final Fantasy VII Remake

The Killzone trailer at E3 '05 was really controversial as many argued that the footage was not actual gameplay but just a CG of an in-game movie, while Sony denied those rumors last year Killzone decided to not show. Capcoms' Resident Evil 5 and Devil May Cry 4, which were big hits the year prior decided not to crash this years E3. While most of these games will come out sooner or later some of them might not ever reach consoles such as Starcraft: Ghost which has been in gaming limbo for a very long time. The Final Fantasy VII remake came to last years E3 as a tech demo and it looks to stay that way for now, but it would have been so awesome to play that game all over again with the power of the PS3. Here is to hoping that all those games are alive and kicking and hopefully we will get a glimpse of these great games either before or during E3 2007.

Unique PSP ads hit the streets in Amsterdam

Starting today, the White PSP is available in Europe, and Sony has been at it again with their unique style of advertising. Instead of putting up a boring old billboard poster (or painting graffiti on buildings to the dismay of locals), Sony decided to advertise the launch of the white PSP in Europe using nothing other than a Zebra crossing. It's quite ingenious if you ask me. There's outlines of the PSP on the white and black lines, representing both the White and Black PSPs. At least it seems Sony learned from their previous mistake - these "graffiti stickers" are easily removed.
