Monkey64 Nintendo 64 Emulator Version 2.0 Released!

What a great couple of weeks! Last week the Daedalus N64 emulator was released, and now we have Monkey64, PSPMonkey's N64 emulator! It's great to have options!

Here's what's new in v2.0:
  • Way too much to list, Commercial Roms work. (finally!)
  • Fast 3D/SW 2.0, Fast 3D Ext, F3DEX1.0 & F3DEX2.0 Microcodes supported
  • Many gfx & Hle issues still exist. Missing a surface clipper & n64 combiner support.
  • 4KB EEPROM supported - (if you wish to use your eeproms from PC emu's, rename them the same as the rom and change the extension to .ep
A quote from PSPMonkey:

"Monkey64 is an n64 emulator started from scratch that takes the PSP limitations into consideration. The ultimate goal is solid n64 emulation at 30-60fps on the psp. This will not come instantly but maybe 6 months from now it will be a reality."

Congrats PSPMonkey! Rejoice PSP users!

Day One E3 Report Two – PSP’s Year

Coverage of Sony's PSP E3 action as provided by DigitalTrend's on the floor guy Tim Stevens.

At last year’s E3, after the big PS3 unveiling it almost seemed like Sony had forgotten their previous next big thing: the PSP. They barely mentioned it at their pre-show, and while there were a few PSP games in their booth, few really impressed. That’s all changed this year. While the PSP still didn’t receive a lot of fanfare before the show, it was strongly featured, and now in Sony’s booth they have dozens and dozens of titles on display, some of which look properly good.

Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception is the first PSP-bound version of the well-known Ace Combat series. The games are fun and challenging on the PS2 and the portable version plays just as well. It’s not quite as pretty, but it does look good, and the addition of 2-4 player wireless play with some friends makes up for any visual shortcomings. It’s due out this fall.
