Datel 4GB HDD For PSP REVIEW : Mass Storage solution for PSP

Introduction – The PSP’s quest for Mass Storage

By now we all know that the PSP is a gateway to a whole lot of media fun, which is by enlarge restricted by the amount of space for storage. At the time of writing, the only ‘official’ maximum storage space available is 2GB priced online priced in excess of $150 at many online retailers. This product has somewhat jumped ahead of raw mass storage technology for the PSP, but are the annoyances worth the additional space? Find out now!

Decisions, decisions…what to do with 4GB on my PSP

A hell of a lot is the answer. Just in-case you were unaware, the PSP offers a whole host of media compatibilities, the playback of MP3, Photo’s, and MPEG-4 video’s. Did someone mention MPEG-4 video? Why yes I did, a great feature of this product is that it plugs right into the Neuros MPEG-4 recorder 2 for PSP – so in theory you have just under 10 HOURS of media ready to playback on your PSP. Alternatively if you aren’t an eager beaver so to speak, Datel include some rather slick lookin’ Max Media storage which will help you to convert your favourite movies into playable MPEG-4 format. The folks at Datel also forgot to mention a nice selling point of the product, it actually acts as a PSP stand as well which is great for watching all your media back on your desk! No doubt if you’re in touch with the homebrew scene (No doubt you are, as you are on MaxConsole) this new found storage space can come in heaps useful for emulators, roms and all the homebrew goodness.

Pictured above is how much bang you get for your buck!

Inside a PSP Strategy Epic

Some have called Sony Online Entertainment's upcoming Field Commander strategy title 'Advance Wars for PSP'. Next-Gen.biz spoke with the game's producer Clint Worley. He says the comparison is welcome...Image Field Commander, expected to release on April 24 for PSP, aims to fill the system's turn-based strategy niche by offering Advance Wars-inspired gameplay in 3D and plenty of multiplayer options including: a one-system two-player 'hot swap' mode, wireless ad-hoc multiplayer (sorry, no UMD-sharing), Internet multiplayer and a 'play-by-'e-mail' Transmission Mode.

Worley, who also worked on Champions: Return to Arms, addresses the issues related to working with an original IP on the PSP, and comparisons to the premier handheld strategy franchise, Advance Wars.

Hands-On Review: Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble

Source: GameSpot

Viewtiful Joe and the gang are getting ready to rumble on the PSP with Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble. We've got a hands-on look.

Thanks to the success of the original Viewtiful Joe on the GameCube, the wannabe movie star's video game acting career has lasted longer than perhaps anyone could have imagined. Joe and his pals have appeared on multiple consoles, over multiple games, the latest of which is a PSP port of Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble, which originally appeared in November of last year on the GameCube. We recently spent some time with the handheld game to see how far Joe's acting chops (and VFX powers) have evolved in this latest superpowered incarnation of the series.

If you never played the original game, a quick plot recap of the game's main story mode is in order. Former superhero and now full-time action-movie director Captain Blue is once again trying to put together a string of hit action movies. The only problem is, everyone--including Joe--wants a starring role in the productions. In order to cast his lead, Blue sets the many selectable characters in the game against one another in a series of competitions to find out who deserves to star in each film.
