AGOURA HILLS, Calif., March 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- THQ Inc. (Nasdaq: THQI) today announced that SpongeBob SquarePants(TM): The Yellow Avenger has shipped for PSP(TM) (PlayStation(R) Portable) System. Based on the characters of Nickelodeon's chart-topping animated television show SpongeBob SquarePants(TM), the game explores a new dimension of SpongeBob as a superhero and is now available at retail outlets nationwide.

"SpongeBob SquarePants: The Yellow Avenger will be a welcome addition to the PSP portfolio given the mass market appeal of both the TV show and THQ's previous console video games."

New PSP "Confirmed" by AICN

From Kotaku News:

We’ve been hearing these rumors for a while now, that the “PSP2” will ship this year, with 4 GB of embedded memory and a camera feature, and that the PS3 will be delayed until next year. Now, Ain’t It Cool News, typically known for its movie news, rumors and reviews, has CONFIRMED it.

* Now, as someone who has personally submitted a blatantly bogus rumor to AICN and had it published, take this with a grain of salt. Impossible? No. But wait for E3.

This Week's PSP Game Releases

There has been a bit of calamity for the majority of titles being released for the PSP. Many gamers feel that while there are a few unique and rather addicting games most of the games are from previous versions ported for the PSP. While I can't say all of the titles this week will rejuvenate your love for PSP games there are a few noteworthy titles that will definitely be popular if not top sellers. This week a few new titles will hit the shelves in stores near you and  we have a quick roundup of whats new and hot. Check it out!
  • Mega Man Poweredup
  • Daxter
  • Neopets: Petpet Adventures - The Wand of Wishing
  • Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
  • Untold Legends The Warriors Code
We are placing Daxter and Syphon Filter among the top titles being released this week. There has been a lot of talk about these two games and a number of good previews have already been filtering in. Mega Man games have had a hefty following since the early 90's, some poor choices in gameplay design (3D) has led a number of the hardcore fans away but Capcom has hopped back on the 2D level design with 3D sprite elements which has many feeling the wrath of Mavericks once again. The Untold Legend series has also become quite popular as of late. We will see who tops the charts and who gets left in dust as these auspicious games come to the light of store shelves this week.

PSP Parkour Chase Video

This was way cool, from PSPUpdates:

While this video probably has the worst picture quality I've ever seen, in this case it doesn't even matter! The kids in this video and what they are doing is all that matters! If you've seen it before you might want to see it again, at least this copy is in a format you can play without downloading yet another video player. The Free Running game is not coming out, at least not here in the states, until sometime this summer so get a taste of what it's really like, in this video!

Plot summary:
After watching his friend's PSP get stolen by a passing thug, the hero jumps into action flipping over fences, leaping off buildings, kicking, fighting and otherwise risking his neck, to retrieve his friend PSP!
How far would you go to get your PSP back from a thief?

Free Weekend WiFi Access for All T-mobile Customers

Similar to the free weekend cellphone minutes offered by many cellphone providers, T-Mobile has recently instituted free weekend WiFi for all its customers. Free WiFi, even while limited to weekends, will be a boon to T-Mobile customers and a draw for those of us who are not current T-Mobile customers. Could this be some sort of response to Verizon's Free Xbox Live Weekend promotion?

If you don't know where to find a free hotspot this weekend there is a searchable list at the T-Mobile website.

So go to your nearest Starbucks and get your PSP connected! :)

(Thanks go out to Minus X for the heads up!)
