Firmware v2.81 Out Now
Today Sony released system update version 2.81 for the PSP. This comes shortly after
FrSIRT rated the recently discovered libTiff exploit as a "high risk." According to the US Playstation site, v2.81 includes the following changes:
- PSP® systems with system software version 2.80 or earlier do not
correctly recognize high-capacity Memory Stick PRO Duo™ with more than
4 GB of free (recordable) memory space.
- A patch has been added to address a security vulnerability in the system software.
Unless you're hell bent on getting a Memory Stick bigger than 4GB and willing to kiss homebrew goodbye, don't upgrade. If for some reason you wish to update then you can
download the EBOOT from Sony's website.
