Easy PSP analog stick mod

Mjw from the QJ forums has come up with an extremely simple yet very effective analog stick mod for your PSP in order to make it that little bit more bulky, a few millimeters away from the faceplate of the PSP. This isn't one of those pull-your PSP apart mods, it doesn't require a single screw, piece of glue or anything like that. All you need is your PSP and a piece of paper. It's so easy that we can't believe we didn't think of it before and you can rest assured that we will probably be using it in the future!

All you have to do is take a tiny piece of soft paper, remove your analog stick, place the tiny piece of paper in the hole on the back of the stick (As shown in the above image) and put it back on the PSP! It's as simple as that! This will take you about 10 seconds and could make it much more comfortable for you when playing your favourite game.

Say guys, I don't mean to rain on your parade here; but, let me fill you in on a recent experience before anyone goes and performs this mechanical modification to the joystick.

Sony has 'ruled' that any and all joystick damages are NOT covered by any warranty. I am currently awaiting a replacement PSP due to a flawed stick on my machine. At the price of $89 for an exchange unit. Any guys, believe me or not, I've never dropped, altered, hit, smacked or in any way physically damaged that little device. It literally fell off due to a plastic retaining ring cracking in half at the bottom of the joystick post well.

Keep in mind Archimedes principle. The old motto that runs, "if you have a lever long enough, you could move the world". Any any increase of post length you increase the net torque on the pivot point (a tiny little plastic post less than 10mm in diameter). Furthermore, take a look at the hard case elastic bands that are designed to hold the PSP in it (those of you, like me, who may own the 'deluxe' case ....dual zippers, UMD storage and the like). If the post is increased even a tiny amount of height, the bands can easily slide under the thumb cap and if the owner isn't paying close attention, rip the cap and/or the entire post out of the joystick well.

Go with caution on this suggestion.
