Evidence of a GPS add-on for PSP has just emerged. Here’s the word on the street…
An allegedly scanned page from the US edition of PlayStation
Magazine (PSM) is currently doing rounds on various gaming forums,
detailing an upcoming satnav accessory for PSP. The device is said to
attach to PSP via its mini USB 2.0 socket, supported by a companion UMD
disc featuring satnav software and street data that can be updated
regularly. And no doubt such a gadget would be stacks cheaper than
shelling out for a swanky standalone satnav. Plus, with PSP’s killer
screen it could transform your handheld into a crystal clear co-pilot.
Our only initial concern is the max volume of PSP’s loudspeaker –
unless you’re car’s ultra quiet, listening out for directions could be
extremely tough.
In similar news, the same scanned article also claims that an
upcoming firmware upgrade will feature Sony Mail – a new and
simple-to-use emailing system for PSP.
Sony has yet to confirm the reality either product, but an
announcement is rumoured to be on the cards at this year’s upcoming
Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in May. Stay tuned for more details
as they break.
