Sony's PSP handheld entertainment system has outsold the Nintendo DS in
Japan for the first time in weeks, in a report from data research firm
Media Create.From Jan 2. – Jan 8., the PSP sold 132,757 units over Nintendo DS at 91,379 units.
The slump in Nintendo DS sales is due to a sell-out of stock at most retail stores.
Nintendo apologized to customers via its website on Jan. 5 and said that supply will increase around the end of January.
The video game veteran however dominated the software sales to take nine of the top ten on sales charts.
Games like Brain Training 2, Animal Crossing DS, and Mario Kart DS took the top three spots.

Enix's Kingdom Hearts 2 for the PS2 was the only non-Nintendo hardware
offering to make the top ten at 83,200 copies sold.
